Mr. Shropshire is helping Idaho National Laboratory explore opportunities for nuclear power in new economic and market environments. He is currently pursuing micro-reactor economics and market studies, preparations for the joint INL/IAEA Nuclear Cost Workshop on Sept. 30-Oct. 3, evaluating nuclear competitiveness in the U.S., and enhancing nuclear energy communication.
He recently returned to Idaho after eight years in Europe working at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European Commission Joint Research Centre (EC-JRC). At IAEA, he was the Head of the Planning and Economic Studies Section.
Previous experience at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) spanned over twenty years. He has published 60+ reports and peer reviewed journal articles related to energy-environmental planning, systems engineering and national security. He is a registered Professional Engineer and has been active professionally including the American Nuclear Society, European Nuclear Society, and the European Nuclear Young Generation. Also, he is active in supporting communication outreach on sustainable uses of nuclear power.
